Since its incorporation in 2003, the Coastal Zones Research Institute Inc. has expanded its areas of expertise to include the services of two engineering graduates (civil and mechanical). Both members of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick, these engineers in training are mandated to assist businesses and organizations working towards the development of coastal zones by offering them advices in terms of integration, improvement and automation of industrial processes and procedures. They also work to create links among the various stakeholders in order to successfully complete the various projects. In accomplishing its mandate, the Engineering Services staff contributes to attaining the overall objectives of the CZRI’s research and analysis sectors.
For example, the Engineering Services worked with the CZRI Fishery and Marine Products sector and the Laboratories and Analysis Services and the New Brunswick Seafood Processors Association on a project dealing with best practices for managing effluent from the processing of marine products in Atlantic Canada. This project resulted from a guide to Best Management Practices (BMP) of Raw Product, Water and Effluents for Marine Products Processing Plants in New Brunswick. Published in 2003, this bilingual guide was created by the staff of the CZRI Fisheries and Marine Products and Laboratories and Analysis Services sectors.
Depending on clients’ needs, our Engineering Services can provide the following:
- Technical advice on optimizing processes;
- Project management;
- Optimal management of water and sewer systems;
- Solid waste management and elimination;
- Wharf facilities;
- System automation;
- Professional support and training.
