The CZRI is intended as a place of convergence where scientists, research professionals, technicians, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students and administrative staff work closely together in negotiating the various stages of innovation leading to the viable development of coastal resources.

Our research and development activities are driven by the belief that the viable development of our coastal resources requires a concerted effort from researchers, individuals, governmental and nongovernmental agencies, and the community as a whole. Indeed, collaboration is one of the human and corporate values promoted by the CZRI. Our research and development teams interact constantly with partners both here and abroad, from industry, the research community, universities, research centres, and federal and provincial departments.    

With our two-pronged focus on excellence and technology transfer, CZRI researchers contribute to the scientific and technological training of interns and graduate students (technicians, biologists and researchers). We take great pride in training the best technicians and researchers of tomorrow.
